Honestly, there was not much to choose in regards to fashion from this year’s Grammy awards. A lot of the attendees played it safe, but some stood out from the rest in a positive way, while others stood out from the rest in a not so positive way. I wish I could have kept my list of fabulous ladies reserved exclusively for the musical artists, but two actresses showed that actresses do dress better, so I had to put them on the list. The one year Beyonce did not attend the Grammys is the one year I thought everyone would have came with their Sunday’s best on, but I guess I was wrong.
Fabulous:
Rihanna looks stunning in this little black dress by Giorgio
Armani. Everything is right about this entire look, the only thing she could
have done differently would have been to wear the dark red lipstick she has
been wearing a lot lately and is popular this season. Other than that, I would
not change a thing about this look.
Kate Beckinsale is one leading lady who is unable to do any wrong in my eyes. She was on my fabulous list for the Golden Globes this year and I hope to have her on the list for the Oscars. She was wearing a nude dress by Zuhir Murad on the red carpet which showed off her flawless legs. If she looked any better, I would think she was a mannequin.
The little black dress was popular on the red carpet this season with Gwyneth Paltrow wearing her interpretation of it by Stella McCartney. She definitely stole the spotlight from some of the musical ladies with this number. After her multiple appearances on “Glee” and after her performance with Cee Lo Green last year, she technically is a musician.
Faux Fabulous:
Nicki, Nicki, Nicki, what were you thinking wearing this? I
know you performed “The Exorcism of Roman,” but you should have saved this
Versace cape dress for the performance and should not have worn it on the red
carpet. While we are on the topic of exorcisms, maybe the Pope on the red carpet
is able to exercise the bad fashion demon out of you. At this point, it would
take a miracle to find anything fabulous about this look. While you are wearing
it, let me pray that next time you will wear something more fabulous on the red
carpet because your track record is not so great right now.
Fergie usually looks so good, but I do not know what she was thinking when she chose this dress by Jean Paul Gaultier. I just hope someone did not mistake her for a tablecloth and sat their drinks down on her while she was walking down the red carpet. On top of that, did she borrow her high-rise panties from her grandmother? If you are trying to be sexy, go all the way, do not get up to the edge and then decide to play it safe.
Robyn must have been channeling her inner superhero when she decided to wear this. Wait, it does not stop there because her shoes do not even go with the outfit. I hope she sticks to being a musical artist next time because the superhero thing is not working well for her.
Diana Ross, I was confused for a moment when I saw you because I thought you were going to an interview instead of an awards show. The red carpet is about elegance and glamour, what you wore could have been worn to the grocery store and people still would not have taken a second look at you. In addition, please get a new hair style because you have worn this one out. Thank you, Management.
This look may have been fabulous in the 1980s Cyndi Lauper, but in 2012 it is simply faux fabulous. I hope this was not the outfit you keep in the back of your closet in hopes that it will come back in style, because if so, get rid of it now. Trust me when I tell you this look will never be back in style.
Fabulous or Faux Fabulous: What do you think?
Corrine Bailey Rae is honestly one of my favorite artists (just
like a star cross the sky…), but I was not too sure about this look. Part of me
likes it while the other part of me hates it. Let me know what you all think by
voting it Fabulous or Faux Fabulous in the poll to the right.
Good critiques... now to Corrine Bailey Rae... I think the look would look good if the dress hugged her body more, and then flared out at bottom with ruffles... what do you think?
