Just in time for the weekend, I have the perfect list of products for you to use during your “me time” and to pamper yourself. Going to the spa is expensive sometimes, so I have a list of ways to maintenance your fabulous while on a budget. I know first hand that being fabulous is time consuming because there is always so much to do, but so little time do it. And with the crazy lives most of us live, it is easy to forget about yourself in the hustle and bustle of life, but I am here to remind you that your fabulous needs to be maintained occasionally. I highly recommend some “me time” or a spa day weekly, but even I am unable to adhere to this schedule, so make sure you squeeze it in at least every two weeks. If you are unable to dedicate a large chunk of time to this routine, you will be able to use most of these products quickly on an occasional basis by themselves.
There are a ton of products to use for your spa day, but here are some that come highly recommended by me and have received my fabulous seal of approval:
1. Kiehl’s Facial Fuel Energizing Facial Scrub – I became addicted to Kiehl’s years ago when I first tried their Pineapple Papaya Facial Scrub because it was mentioned on Will & Grace (this is really the reason why I tried it). The TV show may have piqued my interest in the product, but the product’s effectiveness kept me until they released this scrub. I know it is officially a man’s product, but some of my female friends have used it and have fell in love as well. It is great because it is scrub, but unofficially doubles as a mask. I recommend scrubbing your face with it first and then hopping into to the shower while it rejuvenates your face. The key ingredient in this product is caffeine which may not be good when you drink it, but works wonders when applied to your skin. This product will definitely have people commenting on how refreshed your skin looks the next day.
2. Carol’s Daughter Brown Sugar Body Scrub (formerly named the Sweet Honey Dip
Chocolate Brown Sugah Body Scrub) – Trust me when I tell you this product
lives up to its name. It smells so good it comes with a warning to remind
you it is not meant for consumption (thank you for the reminder Carol!).
You will feel like a new born baby after using this and will want to lick yourself
because you will smell that good. I personally prefer sugar scrubs over
salt scrubs because sugar scrubs are softer on the skin and are less
abrasive. When I originally wrote this post, the item was temporarily not
listed on the website, but it looks like she reformulated it and now has a
better version available for purchase. I am just thankful because this
product is a staple in my spa routine and I would have had a panic attack if
I had to live without.
4. Lush Cosmetics Bath Bomb – These are just like the shower bomb without the
menthol and eucalyptus, but what makes them special is some of them come
with fizzy candy for that extra touch of relaxation somewhat reminiscent
of spa jets (slight exaggeration). So drop one of these in your bath
water, pour yourself a glass of wine, and you have the recipe for pure
relaxation.
5. Sabon Sorbet Body Gel – When you finish showering and scrubbing, you have to
make sure you moisturize, so I recommend this product. I actually found
out about Sabon when I was in NYC walking in the Village with one of my close
friends. I went in to try one of their products and have been infatuated
with the brand every since. What I love about this product is it provides moisture
without leaving a greasy feeling because of its gel based formula unlike similar products in this category.
In case you did not notice, all of these products are made
naturally and have few, if any, chemicals. When it comes to my skin, I try to
use natural products whenever possible because I have noticed they feel better.
Above I highlighted my favorite product each of these companies provides, but
each company makes many of the same products which are all good and I would
recommend trying them to see which ones you like most.
So make sure you take time out of your busy schedule to take
care of yourself. You have to maintenance your fabulous from time to time and
this is the best way to do it so you feel refreshed and renewed.
Because to be fabulous, you have to know what makes you
fabulous!
